WSC is known for working closely with its customers to provide the complete spectrum of high-quality and cost-effective simulation services. WSC maintains a partnering arrangement with I/O, panel, and computer system vendors to offer each customer their own optimal solution.
In addition to our 3KEYMASTER™ simulation platform, the first simulation environment ever developed from the ground-up using an object-oriented approach to process modeling, WSC has integrated engineering grade models such as our 3KEYRELAP5-RT™modeling environment, our adaptation of the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) RELAP5 thermal-hydraulic and NESTLE Neutronic codes, to run in real-time under the 3KEYMASTER™ environment. Both codes provide best-estimate models for simulating nuclear reactors. WSC has integrated other advanced codes into 3KEYMASTER™, such as MARS thermal-hydraulic code, developed by Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) in Korea, and the MELCOR code, developed by Sandia Lab for application on severe accident modeling.
WSC's approach to Nuclear Power Plant Simulation can be applied to any plant currently in operation, under construction, and even to those in design. The configuration management system supplied with our nuclear simulators (3KEYSAFE™) provides an environment for conserving and tracking all plant data used in the development of a nuclear grade simulator and provides the tools for tracking updates and upgrades through the lifetime of the plant.
WSC 3KEYMASTER™ environment also includes a full featured Instructor Station which provides a flexible simulator environment with embedded features such as monitored parameters, trending, Validation and Verification, Scenario Based Testing (SBT), as well as other standard features such as event triggers, scenario creation, and trainee performance tracking. The generic and specific malfunction feature extend the capability of the simulator to allow for thousands of malfunctions that may be used by instructors to develop training exercises that replicate plant behavior and demonstrate such behaviors to operation staff.
WSC’s staff has hundreds of years of combined experience in all type of reactors: BWR, PWR, VVER, Candu, including new reactor designs such as small moduler reactors (SMR) and new builds. WSC’s dedicated staff of engineers also has the expertise to modify, upgrade and support older nuclear simulators requiring a partial or full upgrade of their simulator’s hardware and/or software platforms.
