WSC was awarded contracts in 2021 by Argonne National Labs (ANL), under our Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA), to support 3KEYMASTER Simulation projects in the Ukraine.
RvNPP Simulator Severe Accident Model:
WSC will support the Ukraine State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Reactor Safety (SSTC NRS) with Severe Accident model development for the Rivne VVER-1000 Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). The Severe Accident model will be based on Sandia National Labs MELCOR Severe Accident Analysis code, integrated with 3KEYMASTER (3KEYSAA). WSC, with ANL support, will provide the necessary resources to assist SSTC NRS with:
-
Data collection and development of a
VVER-1000 3KEYMASTER Severe Accident Analysis model using MELCOR, and
- Integrate and test the model with the Rivne VVER-1000 3KEYMASTER simulator in the Ukraine.
The 3KEYSAA simulator will allow the technical personnel at the power plant to run a variety of accident conditions and scenarios, which should help improve the response of on-site and off-site teams involved in such situations.
The models will allow for simulation of various malfunctions in abnormal/emergency situations requiring operator actions and/or observance of automatic system actions.
KPI Classroom Simulator:
Similar to the classroom simulator WSC provided to Odesa Polytechnic University under Task 1 of the BOA, WSC is providing the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" (KPI) the hardware and software to support ANL's "Simulator-Based Training Project to Replace Training Capabilities of the Sevastopol National University of Nuclear Energy and Industry".
