WSC was awarded a contract to support GE in providing a full scope Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) simulator to the Duke Energy Edwardsport IGCC power plant. The simulator will consist of two GE 207FB combustion turbines with a rated power output of a nominal 240 MW gross each under standard conditions (65F ambient,) using syngas as the primary fuel or natural gas as the alternative fuel, including co-firing both fuels. CT generators will be modeled after GE hydrogen-cooled design incorporating two pole rotors for a rated speed of 3600 RPM at 60 Hertz. The combined steam output of the two Doosan dual-pressure heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) and gasifier island syngas coolers will supply GE G13 reheat steam turbine-generator with a nominal rated output of 331 MW. The Overall control of the integrated gasification combined cycle plant models will be accomplished utilizing a virtual Mark-VIe control system supplied by GE.
The primary objective of this project is to provide an engineering grade simulator for training of control room operators, supervisors and plant equipment operators. A secondary objective would be the ability to carry out engineering and control system analyses to support design change activities.
