WSC developed a new 2 on 1 combined cycle simulator with Duke Energy from March 2016 to November 2016 for a power block which is currently being commissioned. This simulator features WSC models for Siemens gas turbines, a Siemens steam turbine, and Vogt HRSGs. The Siemens gas turbines and steam turbine were interfaced with virtual Siemens T3000 controls, and the HRSG/BOP models were interfaced with virtual Ovation 3.6 controls.
WSC delivered process models to Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC and committed to 9 weeks of SAE-style testing, or Simulation Assisted Engineering, at the Duke offices to facilitate BOP control logic development and testing from August to November. WSC delivered the simulator to the WS Lee site in Belton, SC on November 9th, 2016. The early delivery of this high-fidelity simulator will accelerate Dukes continuing control logic development effort, as well as assist with WS Lees pre-commissioning operator training opportunities.
