In November 2015, Kafue Gorge Regional Training Center (KGRTC) of Zambia awarded WSC a contract to build a power system simulator for training and research purposes at KGRTC. This project has been fully financed by the Embassy of Sweden in Lusaka. The models will consist of substations containing busses, transformers, loads, generators, breakers, switches and other active and passive electrical devices. Each network will contain a SCADA simulation based on the actual screens used by the operators at the control centers.
In anticipation of the impact of new renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, WSC looks forward to applying this technology to grid control areas worldwide for training and capacity validation. Interfacing the system operators with the generation control room operators in a simulated environment will improve safety and reliable operation of the grid and lower the risk of system blackouts.
